YouthPitchSafe is a youth-led initiative with a simple goal: help prevent overuse injuries in youth baseball by making pitch tracking, rest awareness, and trusted safety information easier to access.
Encourage families to record pitching activity across school, travel, league, practice, and lessons—not just one team.
Promote age-appropriate rest and recovery using established youth pitching safety guidance.
Share practical resources to help athletes, parents, and coaches recognize why workload management matters.
YouthPitchSafe was inspired by a challenge familiar to many youth baseball families: pitchers may play on multiple teams, while no single coach sees their full workload.
The initiative aims to make it easier to keep one record of pitching activity and encourage conversations about recovery, safety, and long-term player development.
Our goal is to support informed decisions—not replace coaches, medical professionals, or official league rules.
15-year-old left-handed pitcher · Sophomore at Episcopal High School · Bellaire, Texas
Baseball has taken Ajay from his high school team to travel ball and international prospect competition. He pitches for Episcopal High School, whose freshman team finished runner-up at the 2026 SPC Championships, as well as the Wildcatters and the 18U Team India Prospects team.
Between school baseball, travel teams, practices, and private pitching lessons, keeping track of his total pitching workload has never been simple. Even when game pitch counts were followed, there was no easy way to see all the throwing and pitching activity in one place.
After experiencing a left shoulder strain following the high school season, Ajay was sidelined during the summer and fall Wildcatters seasons. The setback led him to ask a bigger question: Are game pitch counts alone enough to understand a young pitcher's workload?
His injury's precise cause has not been established. But the experience inspired him to create YouthPitchSafe and develop PitchSafe, a tool intended to bring pitching records from different teams, practices, and lessons together and encourage smarter conversations about rest and recovery.
YouthPitchSafe is a youth-led initiative focused on education and prevention. PitchSafe does not diagnose injuries or replace professional medical advice.
The PitchSafe tracker is being developed to help parents, players, and coaches maintain a clearer picture of pitching activity and recovery needs.
The app is in development and is not yet available for public use. Questions or interested in updates? Email youthpitchsafe@gmail.com. App features and safety guidance will be tested and validated before launch.
